In the sparsely populated mountains in the north of Thailand, near the border with Burma, there is an original biotope that is claimed to be the birthplace of wild tea trees. And indeed, tea bushes and trees are found here at every turn. Local people first consumed them as a salad and an ingredient in dishes. However, the ambassadors of the Dobra Tea Company managed to commission local farmers to produce tea for drinking by hand in an area named after the local Pa Pae Buddhist Forest Monastery. This offered tea was collected and processed in February 2023. The leaves are plucked from wild mature bushes, which brings considerable suffering to the mostly elderly pickers in the steep mountain slopes.
